Hart was giving a speech after accepting the Hall of Fame honor for his late father Stu Hart when he called out Greg Oliver of SlamWrestling, who was there to be given the Jim Melby Memorial Award for wrestling journalism along with partner Steve Johnson. Bret eventually left when Oliver didn't and several of the other wrestlers left with him, creating a very bad vibe for the event. Hart's beef with Oliver goes back to Oliver's book, "Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: The Canadians," which listed Hart as #14 in the list of greatest Canadian wrestlers over. The book did acknowledge Hart as the best known of all the Canadians but said "Hart can hardly claim to be the best ever.
